An Ayrshire rugby star is set for one of the biggest games of his career in the World Rugby u-20 Trophy final.
Jake Shearer is part of the Scotland team set to take on the USA in the final at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh.
Scotland have recorded three impressive wins to date, putting triple digits on Samoa and Hong Kong China before most recently beating Japan 46-10 to secure their place in the final.
Scotland and USA will now battle it out for first place and promotion to next year’s World Rugby U20 Championship.
Ayrshire Bulls prop Shearer will be hoping to help his country victory, after starring for the Ayrshire Bulls last season.
He began playing rugby when he joined Cumnock Academy, and played with the East Ayrshire outfit until 2019 before moving to Ayr RFC.
In 2024, Jake progressed to the Ayr FOSROC Super Series side Ayrshire Bulls and made four appearances for the team in the Sprint Series.
He was part of the Ayr/Wellington boys' team that lifted the National Youth U18 Shield at BT Murrayfield with a 36-7 win over Melrose Wasps.
The final takes place on Wednesday, July 17, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
It's the last match of a quadruple-header, with Hong Kong China playing Kenya at 11.45am in a play-off for seventh place, before Samoa face the Netherlands for fifth place at 2.30pm and Japan take on Uruguay for third place at 5.15pm.
