AYR United have announced their first signing of the summer transfer window.
The club confirmed on Friday, May 24, that Greenock Morton striker George Oakley has signed a pre-contract agreement at Somerset Park.
Oakley will join Scott Brown's side on a deal until June 2026 following the expiry of his current contract at Cappielow.
The top marksman will bring with him plenty of pedigree after an impressive campaign at Dougie Imrie's side.
While his nine goals is far from the highest tally from last season's Scottish Championship - Oakley was a thorn in the side of many teams in the league with his tiresome workrate.
The attacker also played a pivotal role in the club's run to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals this year.
His performances did not go unnoticed either, as Oakley picked up the league's player of the month award back in January.

Fans of the Honest Men will also be glad to see Oakley wearing black and white next season with the striker proving a thorn in their side last season.
Most notably, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for Morton at Somerset Park back in October.
It is understood that Ayr fought off stiff competition for his signature with fellow Championship side Partick Thistle also linked to the former Inverness and one-time Kilmarnock attacker.
The news comes on the same day as United announced further player news with Paddy Reading signing an extended contract with the club.
While attackers Franny Amartey and Ahkeem Rose will be leaving the club after a option was exercised to terminate their contacts at the end of this season.
