TROON will have a new football club competing in the Ayrshire Amateur Football Association leagues next season.

It comes as Troon Town AFC confirmed they had been accepted into the set up.

They will become the second team from the area to form part of the Saturday league set up, alongside Troon Dundonald.

The club will be moving across from the region's Sunday amateur leagues where they have enjoyed a number of strong seasons since their formation in 2017.

This included a memorable cup run this season which saw them reach the semi-final of the West of Scotland Cup - the second biggest competition for Ayrshire sides.

The club confirmed the move, which they will complete at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, with a statement on their social media page last week.

They said: "The club are proud to announce that we have been accepted into the Ayrshire Amateur Football Association for next season.

"The main thing for out fans to note is that our games will be played on a Saturday instead of a Sunday.

"We are delighted and grateful that we have been accepted into this association as we feel this is the next step that we must take to allow the club to grow."
