A NEW sports league has formed in Ayrshire in a bid to nurture talented stars across the region.
Earlier this month it was confirmed that the county would have its very own table tennis league.
It is the culmination of hard work from key figures from a number of other clubs from across the area who have come together to form the league.
The venture was confirmed following a meeting by interested parties in Dunlop earlier this week.
Martin Oestmann from Dunlop Table Tennis Club will be the league chairman and match secretary, while Alex Hughes from North Ayrshire will take up the role of general secretary.
Roy Claxton from South Ayrshire will be league treasurer and Paul Walker, also from South Ayrshire, will help form the committee.
It is hoped that the league will run between April and June each year and the organisers are excited by the prospects it may bring.
They commented: "Last night the Ayrshire Table Tennis League was constituted at a meeting held in Dunlop.
"The aim is to run the new league over the months of April to June.
"This is a very exciting venture and hopefully a valued competition among seasoned league players and people new to playing in a league.
"Congratulations to the newly elected board members."
More information is available via the league's Facebook page.
