A GROUP of tenpin bowlers from Ayr are set to represent Scotland at a prestigious international competition – but they need the public’s help to get them there.
The five youngsters, Sarah Scott, Isla Claxton, Kelsi Cuthbert, Aaron Claxton and Ben Wallace, have all been selected to play at the European Youth Championships in Helsinki next month.
The talented bowlers, who are all under 18, are part of team Jedibowling YBC, which runs after school on Tuesdays and on Saturday mornings.
They all also play in league competitions twice a week and train most Sundays at their home club, LA Bowl in Ayr's Miller Road.
James Claxton, their head coach, works hard with the help of a group of fellow coaches to train the young athletes to a very high standard.
The team mostly funds itself for hotel and travel expenses, though it receives some help from Scottish Tenpin Bowling.
A fundraiser has now been launched to help the team with the cost of attending the event, which runs from March 23 to April 1.
