AYR United boss Mark Kerr has played down links with a move for Rangers starlet Jamie Barjonas.
The Honest Men gaffer admits he is a big admirer of the player who spent some of last season on loan with Partick Thistle from the Light Blues.
But contrary to previous reports elsewhere, Kerr says a move will not happen any time soon.
He said: “I’m not anywhere down the line with this but Barjo has had a couple of loans now and I think his situation is still in a similar position.
“I’ve got a good relationship with Rangers, so his availability is something we’d be able to talk about.
“But it’s not like anything will be done this week or the following week. It’s nowhere near that stage.
“Like most clubs in the Championship, you’d be daft not to look at him. Whether or not it’s the right thing for us right now, I’m not sure.
“Right now, all I’ll say is he’s a player most clubs will look at and we’re on the same boat, but nothing has been followed up.”
He added: “It’s just a process right now. I think because there’s so many teams looking for players there’s a bit of a scramble.
“It’s important to remain calm, speak to agents you’ve worked well with. A lot of them come to me with stuff but you’ve got to have a bit of trust with them too.
“I’m hoping over the next week we’ll have a clearer picture on some answers with regards to transfers.”
