AN AYR couple recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
John and Nan McDonald met at a dance in Whitletts Community Centre and were married in St. Quivox Church, Dalmilling, on December 22, 1961.
They have two daughters, two grandsons and one great-grandson, with another great-grandson on the way.
The couple received a card from the Queen and Provost Helen Moonie sent a video message and a basket of flowers on behalf of South Ayrshire Council.
Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sharon Dowey visited the diamond duo to congratulate them and said: “It was an honour to meet John and Nan and congratulate them on their anniversary in person. I was delighted to be able to take part in their celebrations, even in a small way, and share this important moment with them. 60 years is a remarkable milestone for a couple; they should be incredibly proud of their marriage and I wish them many more happy years together in the future.”
