THE first day of the highly-anticipated Prestmas Christmas event has been cancelled due to the weather.
The two-day festive extravaganza was due to be held on on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24.
This year’s festival features the Christmas light switch-on on Sunday, alongside a host of festive activities for all ages.
The two-day event was set to be hosted by Ayrshire favourites Ali and Michael, and include a vibrant Christmas market, fun fair, and street performances.
Live music was to be performed by a range of talented artists on two stages, alongside shopping at local businesses and stalls.
However, the Saturday of the event has now been cancelled, with a yellow weather warning in place across the region.
Organisers said: "After closely monitoring the weather forecast over the past 48 hours and carefully reviewing this morning’s updated weather models alongside yesterday’s Met Office warning, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Saturday’s Prestmas festivities.
"This decision has been taken with the utmost priority for the safety of our attendees, staff, and vendors due to the wind/rain warnings in place.
"However, we are delighted to confirm that the full schedule for Sunday, including the highly anticipated main light switch-on, will currently proceed as planned.
"Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you on Sunday for a day of festive celebration!"
The Christmas light switch-on will take place on Sunday, November at 5pm in the Prestwick Cross and Boydfield Gardens area.
