A PRESTWICK Nursery has been hailed in the Scottish Parliament for its work empowering children.
Pine Trees Nursery received silver accreditation as a UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School earlier this year.
South Scotland Conservative MSP Sharon Dowey lodged a motion at Holyrood to mark the achievement, commending the staff and pupils for their good work.
It read: "That the Parliament congratulates the pupils and staff of Pine Trees Nursery in Prestwick following their accreditation as a UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School; believes that by attaining this award, the nursery has a rights respecting ethos and is empowering children and young people, as well as developing their understanding of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; understands that this level of accreditation recognises that the learning and teaching of rights is becoming established within the community, and that children's rights are learned, understood and lived within this environment; commends the staff team at Pine Trees Nursery, as well as the children and young people for all of their hard work, and hopes to see them continue their successes in the future."
The nursery runs in partnership with South Ayrshire Council and can accommodate a registration of up to 98 children aged 0-5.
