AYR got into the festive spirit with a day of family fun as the town's Christmas lights were switched-on.
Families could head down to Ayr town centre from 1.30pm to 5.30pm on Sunday for fantastic stage entertainment, Christmas markets, festive photos and interactive attractions.
Returning to the Main Stage, by popular demand, were the The MacDonald Brothers, who performed a selection of hit songs.
The MacDonald Brothers, along with South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell, switched on the Christmas lights at the Cutty Sark Centre at 5pm.
There were a number of other brilliant performances throughout the day from local talented youngsters on the Main Stage.
Visitors could also show their support to the South Ayrshire dancers performing on the Dancers’ Stage – located near Marks and Spencer on Ayr High Street.
Two fabulous Christmas markets were held in The Grain Exchange and on the High Street, all showcasing goods from local traders.
Santa was welcoming children throughout the day with the help of Girlguiding Ayrshire South.
Children could also write a message to Santa and hang it on the giant wooden Christmas tree.
Photo opportunities included giant Christmas chairs and the Snow White scene, and youngsters could hop aboard the Santa Express Train, located near The Wallace Tower.
Plus, there was also a funfair with a range of rides to suit all ages. The council was collecting funds for the council’s employee charity partner, The Night Before Christmas Campaign, and Girlguiding Ayrshire South.
