A NEW 'spuds' eatery is set to come to Ayr town centre early next year following the takeover of the former Thyme coffee shop.
The bosses of thriving restaurant and takeaway chain Tempura announced that they had taken over the Alloway Street site.
Thyme was put up for sale in September after its owners said they could not commit to the popular coffee shop alongside their other business in North Ayrshire.
Tempura owners Brandon van Reesburg and Mark Blake have now announced their takeover of the premises, which will be renamed 'spudbuds'.
A spokesperson said: "What’s better than having a spud, well having a spud with your bud, from spudbuds, that’s what.
"Brandon and Mark from Tempura are opening a brand new shop based solely around Spuds!
"Although you may want a Tempura battered spud, this will be a completely different concept.
"Don’t panic though, you will still experience their incredible customer service, creative offerings and delicious food, as you would at your local tempura but this is about the spuds.
"Tempura are taking their award winning takeaway offering to the spud market and you can expect to see this some time in the early New Year.
"Keep your eyes peeled on socials for all the exciting updates."
Brandon and Mark operate restaurants and takeways in Ayr, Troon, Prestwick and Kilmarnock, with a new venture in the works for Irvine.
