THE family behind an award-winning Troon café have announced they are stepping away.
The operators of The Venice Cafe on Ayr Street revealed on Tuesday that they were "gutted to have to go", but thanked customers for all their support.
Just last year, the popular eatery won the Café of the Year gong at the Scottish Business Awards.
In a heartfelt post online, the family said: "I’m sorry to have to let you all know that we’ve come to the decision as a family to step away from the café.
"Our family responsibilities are even more of a priority now than they have been in previous months.
"Whilst we are gutted to have to go, it’s what is right for us right now.
"I’d like to thank all of your customers who have supported us in renovating, opening back up, winning Café Of The Year, relaunching the famous Venice Ice Cream and all the fabulous reviews you have left for us.
"You all played a part for which we will be forever grateful.
"I’d also like at this time to say a huge thanks to all the staff who have worked alongside us since we opened. Your dedication and commitment helped make the cafe the place it is.
"We will be around all this week and running a reduced menu for some of next week.
"This will allow us sufficient time to get the café ready to hand back, ready for those who wish to take the venture forward.
"With that said, if there is anyone interested in getting more information on taking the café on, please let me know and I’ll pass your details on.
"Once again, many thanks for your continued support and we wish you well moving forward."
