MORE than 1,000 runners descended on Prestwick Airport on Saturday morning for the first ever Run the Runway charity event.
Participants could choose to either run, jog or walk a 5K or 10K route along the runways, all in aid of three good causes.
The event raised money for The Beatson Cancer Charity, Doing It For Daniel Foundation and Ayrshire Hospice.
Through entry fees and sponsorship, more than £100,000 was raised for the trio of charities, with representatives from each talking to participants on the day.
Entertainment on the runway was provided by the Rock Choir, with pipers also stationed along the route.
An airport spokesperson said: "Thank you to everyone that participated this morning and for raising this incredible sum for three worthwhile charities."
