THE 2024-25 Music in Ayr concert series has kicked off to a 'splendid' start.
The new season, organised by Ayr Music Club, began on Saturday, September 23, with the Resol String Quartet performing a recital of chamber music to a 'large' audience.
The quartet began the programme with Mendelssohn's Four Pieces for String Quartet, showcasing the musicians' complete 'rapport' with each other and the music from the outset.
Following this, they played Max Bruch's First String Quartet, capturing the 'depth' of mid-19th Century music through 'meticulous' attention to detail.
The second half of the recital featured Mendelssohn's F minor Quartet, where each musician's skills combined to produce a performance of exceptionally high standards.
The next recital in the Music in Ayr series will feature the Pirasti Piano Trio.
This will take place on Saturday, November 2, at 7.30pm in the Salvation Army Community Church on John Street, and more details are available here.
