TWO Ayr restaurants are tasting success after being shortlisted in the inaugural British Curry Championships.

3 Idiots and The Curry Leaf have been named as finalists in two separate categories for the awards.

The awards will showcase the top 300 restaurants bringing the best in the curry industry across the nation.

3 Idiots in Ayr’s George Street has been shortlisted in the Scottish Curry Champion of The Year category.

Earlier this year, the eatery was named Recommended Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Curry Awards.

(Image: Newsquest) Owner Parveen Sharma said: “We are delighted to be nominated for another award as it proves we are doing well.

“We have been in Ayr for around five years and we just enjoy putting out good food day in and day out.

“I like to think our high quality food and consistency leads to these award nominations, as we have had quite a few.”

Parveen operates a second 3 Idiots site in Troon, alongside his own Brown Munde eatery in Kilmarnock.

He has also revealed that he is eyeing up another restaurant, coming to Ayrshire in the next few years.

The Curry Leaf in Ayr’s Wills Road has also been shortlisted in the Nation Takeaway Of The Year category.

The Curry Leaf, situated on Wills Road in the town, was named as the winner of Takeaway of the Year for Scotland at Nation’s Curry Awards earlier this year.

“Things are going very well, and it shows hard work pays off when customers are voting for us.”

The awards ceremony will take place in December and will see the nation’s curry connoisseurs gather to recognize the exceptional achievements of the curry sector.
