A POPULAR Ayr restaurant has received a special award for its fundraising efforts.
Tempura, which also has locations in Troon, Prestwick, and Kilmarnock, was given the 'Head Teacher Award' by Heathfield Primary School.
Co-owners Brandon Van Rensburg and Mark Blake were given the award after raising money for the school's gymnastics team last month, after they created special themed side dishes to sell in their venues.
The proceeds from the sales were then donated directly to the gymnastics team.
Gaenor Hardy, head teacher, said: "I wanted to say a personal thank you for the very kind donation that you gave to the gymnastics team.
"The whole initiative created a deep and engaging experience for our children (as well as being very funny).
"Not only did it require them to be creative, communicate, and earn the donation, but it engaged their families and the whole school."
Tempura has won several other awards in the past year, as it continues to build a successful chain of eateries across Ayrshire.
