AN AYR teenager is set to compete on the national stage as she vies for the title of Miss Great Britain.

Ava Morgan will go head-to-head with girls from across the UK, after winning Miss GB Edinburgh earlier this year.

She says winning the title in the capital was a special moment, but now wants to go one better and pick up the national crown on Friday, October 18.

Ava said: "Winning Miss GB Edinburgh was such a special achievement for me. I secured the title by earning the highest scores across all four rounds; interview, fashion wear, swimwear, evening wear, and the onstage question.

"Each of these rounds gave me the opportunity to showcase my confidence, poise, and commitment to my cause.

"On the night of the finals, the rounds will be similar to the regional competition. The top 15 will be selected, and they will answer an onstage question.

"The contestant with the highest marks overall will win. There are also side awards up for grabs, such as Miss Public Choice, Miss Photogenic, Miss Charity, Miss Talent, Miss Beach Body, and more. It’s an exciting and intense competition, but I’m looking forward to it!"

Ava explained: "My journey with Miss GB started because I had already participated in pageants before, and I found a deep connection with Miss GB’s values of women empowerment.

"The competition really resonated with me, especially as it aligns perfectly with my passion for spreading awareness for breast cancer.

"I wanted to use the Miss GB platform to amplify my campaign, BeBoobAware, and to encourage people to get involved in breast cancer awareness.

"In the lead-up to the Miss GB finals, I’ve been heavily involved in fundraising efforts, raising around £26,000 for Cancer Research UK and Alex's Wish in just three months.

"I hosted a variety of events, including sip and paints, a ladies' lunch which raised an incredible £16,450, and I collaborated with LJM Dance School for dance events.

"We also organized a sponsored September where kids raised as much money as possible, and I even hosted a psychic night.

"Additionally, I’ve attended empowering events, such as one focused on supporting women from deprived backgrounds."

Ava says she is proud to represent her hometown amongst women from across the UK, and has thanked her friends and family for all their support.

She said: "I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and being able to highlight important causes like breast cancer awareness through BeBoobAware makes it even more meaningful.

"As for my friends and family, they’ve been so supportive, and I know they’re incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved.

"Their encouragement has been vital, and I’m grateful to have them with me on this journey. Knowing they’re proud motivates me even more to give my best on the national stage."
