A WOMAN is charged with carrying out a head-kicking assault outside an Ayr pub more than two years ago.

Lia Thomson pleaded not guilty to two serious assault charges when she appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

The 22-year-old is alleged to have assaulted a woman outside the Smugglers bar on South Harbour Street on June 15, 2022, having allegedly seized her hair, pulled her to the ground and dragged her by the clothing.

Thomson, of Macbeth Road, Stewarton, is said to have repeatedly punched her and kicked her on the head, 'all to her injury'.

It is claimed that she assaulted a second female complainer by pushing her, causing her to fall.

The charge states she then struck her head on the ground, to her severe injury and permanent impairment.

Defence solicitor Colin McLaughlin said his client pleaded not guilty to the charges when she appeared for a brief pre-trial first diet hearing on Wednesday (October 2).

Sheriff Shirley Foran continued bail for the accused and she will face the allegations at a later date.
