VIRGIN Atlantic is back at Prestwick Airport after one of its flagship aircraft arrived for a maintenance inspection.

The airline has struck up a new partnership with airport-based Storm Aviation, who operate from one of the airport's hangers.

Storm Aviation recently closed their London Stansted hanger to concentrate on business at its wide body operations at Prestwick.

Improvements have been made to the facility including new staff and infrastructure, meaning better service for airlines and operators.

Kenny Chan, Storm director of maintenance, said: “Focusing our base efforts at our Prestwick hangar is a strategic move to streamline our operations and improve efficiency.

"By centralising our base maintenance solution at Glasgow Prestwick, we aim to better serve our customers with the highest quality standards while ensuring a sustainable business model.”

The company has now welcomed Virgin Atlantic as a new customer, and one of the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft arrived earlier this week for an inspection.

A Storm spokesperson said: "Our team diligently completed the required inspections and repairs, successfully finishing all tasks within the designated time frame.

"Upon departure, the Virgin Atlantic team expressed their gratitude for the outstanding effort, commending both teams for their collaboration in accomplishing this ad hoc repair.

"We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting Virgin Atlantic in the future."
