AYRSHIRE'S talking newspapers for the visually impaired are set to make a comeback later this month.
The vital service from Ayrshire Recording Services allowed blind and visually impaired residents to catch up on all the news from the county's local papers.
But the service was suspended earlier this year, shortly after the closure of their building in Kilmarnock, which was badly in need of repair.
It also meant the closure of the Kilmarnock Visually Impaired Social Group, an organisation that had been a cornerstone of support for the visually impaired community for nearly five decades.
But the good news is that the talking newspapers, sent to subscribers across Ayrshire, will be back from Wednesday, October 23.
Production manager Rikki Farquharson said: "Although the decision to pause operations in April 2024 was difficult, we are excited to share that we are back with renewed energy and commitment.
"Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, we have successfully established a new recording studio, and we are ready to continue our mission of providing local news to the visually impaired in Ayrshire."
He added: "We truly appreciate your ongoing support, which is vital to ensuring we can continue to serve our community.
"Thank you for your continued dedication to helping the blind and visually impaired."
