AN AYR community interest company has been shortlisted for the prestigious SURF Award national awards scheme.
The awards showcase success in responding to regeneration challenges in communities across Scotland.
SURF is a regeneration forum with more than 300 cross-sector member organisations throughout Scotland.
Narture CIC has been shortlisted in the Creative Regeneration category, alongside projects in Inverclyde and Glasgow.
Narture was set up in June 2020 during the pandemic, founded by artist father and daughter team Robert and Saskia Singer.
The project evolved initially from occupying empty town centre spaces and re-purposing them for cultural and creative uses.
A bakery and café helps provide income and any surplus profits are used for creative art and regeneration projects in the town.
The judging panel will be carrying out visits throughout October to all of the diverse projects to develop a better understanding of their impact and the situations they are responding to.
The five category winners will then be announced on the evening of Thursday, December 5 at the 2024 SURF Awards presentation dinner event in Glasgow’s Voco Grand Central Hotel.
