THE HM Coastguard hanger at Prestwick Airport is set for an upgrade.
An application to install new signage on the front of the hanger was approved earlier this week by South Ayrshire Council.
The new signage will display the Coastguard logo, alongside that of Bristow Search and Rescue.
Back in 2020, HM Coastguard’s UK Search and Rescue helicopter service, operated by Bristow Helicopters, celebrated its fifth anniversary.
Bristow was awarded a10-year contract by the Department for Transport in March 2013.
The base initially operated Sikorsky S-92A aircraft, later becoming the first UK SAR base to operate the new AW189 aircraft type in 2017.
Prestwick is one of 10 bases strategically located around the country near areas where search and rescue incident rates are high.
The HM Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter service is operated by Bristow Helicopters Limited on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
