A DOMESTIC assault accused has denied a charge of allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend with a TV cable in Ayr almost 20 years ago.
Dale Mason pleaded not guilty to historic allegations of assault and threatening or abusive behaviour towards a former partner.
The 44-year-old is said to have pulled out a TV cable from the wall of a property in the town before wrapping it round the alleged victim's neck.
The Crown claims that Mason then pulled the cable 'restricting her breathing to her injury', on an occasion between February and December 2005.
He faces a second charge of causing the complainer fear and alarm by acting in an aggressive manner, shouting, swearing and kicking at a kitchen door at a different address in Ayr in 2014.
Defence solicitor Ian Gillies said his client pleaded not guilty to both charges and bail was granted for Mason, of Hannahston Avenue, Drongan.
He will return to court to face the allegations at a later date.
