AN AYRSHIRE woman has been charged with bigamy after marrying a lady at Enterkine House - allegedly after tying the knot with a man more than twenty years ago.
Susan MacLean pleaded not guilty to the charge when her case called in court last Wednesday [September 11].
The 47-year-old is alleged to have 'purported to enter into a marriage' with a female on July 21, 2021 at Enterkine House Hotel, Annbank while 'knowing you were already married'.
The procurator fiscal depute's complaint states Mrs Maclean had previously entered into a marriage with a male on October 10, 2003 in Maybole, South Ayrshire, contrary to the Marriage Act.
Defence solicitor John Gallagher told the court his client pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mrs Maclean, of Rowan Road, Girvan, was ordained to appear to face the allegation at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.
