The Alloway Scottish Women’s Institute kicked off a successful new session this September chaired by its president June Foreman.

The group kicked off the evening with a light-hearted quiz created by Fiona Crowe.

Five teams of six took part and the eventual winners were 'Strictly Come Quizzing', second place went to 'Old and New' and 'Brain Drain' were third.

However, there was a tie for last place between the final two teams, as ‘The Winners’ and ‘The Losers’ scored the same number of points.

The Institute also revealed the results from various competitions such as A Brainfood Concoction where June Foreman won first place and Elizzie McCubbin came second.

The something read out, sung or played on an instrument competition had poems and readings from winner Claire Mattews, second place June Foreman and third place Maureen McKee.

For ‘an 'Idea of the Month'’ Gina Struthers and Elizzie McCubbin were joint winners and June Foreman was 3rd.

The meeting also looked forward to their next meet-up on Wednesday, October 9 in Alloway Village Hall when they’ll hold a 'Beetle Drive' alongside their next competitions; 3 pancakes, A decorated Box and a Creepy Crawly poem.

The craft group will restart on Mondays in the village hall, with carpet bowling taking place in Alloway Church Halls on Friday afternoons.

Members are arranging the teams for the Ayrshire Federation Show which is being held in the Concert Hall in Troon on Saturday, October 26 from 10am until 4pm.
