AN AYR man is set to star as one of 10 candidates on a brand-new fashion show on ITV.
Hosted by AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay, M&S: Dress the Nation follows M&S’ nationwide search for new in-house design talent.
Contestants will be set a series of tasks which will assess their design, problem-solving, commerciality and collaboration skills.
The winner will secure a life-changing role at M&S working alongside some of the best designers in the industry, and their own bespoke collection available in select stores.
Living in a small village with less than 2,000 residents, Ayr man Paul Williamson finds inspiration in architecture, which deeply influences his creative outlook and personal style.
Paul, 31, embarks on weekly journeys from Scotland to London, with a 12-hour commute to pursue his graduate collection at the Jimmy Choo Academy.
After dropping out of Central Saint Martins due to the challenges of relocating from Scotland to London, Paul’s resilience brought him back to fashion.
He is now a lecturer at the London College of Contemporary Art and works behind the scenes at London Fashion Week.
His designs, transitioning from tailoring to streetwear, emphasize technical fabrics and Brutalist influences reminiscent of his Scottish upbringing.
Tune in to ITV1 or ITVX this autumn to watch Paul’s journey on the six-part series.
