A PAIR of thugs from Girvan have admitted to injuring two Austrian men in a vicious city centre assault.
Haris Ali, 32, and Adam Scholes, 30, pounced on the victims in Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street on May 5, 2022.
Scholes initially argued with one of the men - who was in the city with his colleague on a work conference - before the disturbance turned violent.
Ali struck the victim on the face before he was pulled away from the scene by the other man.
Ali, Scholes and co-accused Morgan Leggat, 23, later ambushed another male leaving him with a facial fracture.
The trio, all of Girvan, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault to severe injury.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the Austrian men were on a night out before they went to a takeaway when they came across Scholes.
Prosecutor Sean Docherty said: "Scholes engaged in an argument and punched the victim to the nose which resulted in a nasal fracture.
"Ali then hit the other victim to the face resulting in his glasses falling off as well as swelling to his head."
The pair left the scene and took refuge in a nearby pub.
The hearing was told that 20 minutes later, Ali, Scholes and Leggat set upon the other victim who was getting a takeaway.
Mr Docherty said: "[The victim] was punched to the head then kicked to the body and face by all three."
The trio fled the scene while a taxi was flagged down which took the man to hospital.
He was later treated for a fracture to the right side of his face and a wound to the top of his head which required two staples.
The three attackers were traced in May 2022 and arrested.
It was revealed that Ali and Scholes have previous convictions while Legatt is a first time offender.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre who granted all three bail.
