Plans to erect two industrial units at a business park near Dundonald have been given the green light.

Hamilton Tarmac applied to South Ayrshire Council last month for the two large buildings alongside associated parking and an access road in Olympic Business Park.

The units will be build on land that is currently used for site works training, plant storage and parking.

The larger unit will have space for 24 parking bays, with six parking bays at the smaller industrial unit.

Each of the 13 individual units within the buildings will have its own separate toilet, and will be accessed by a roller shutter.

Council planners have given the go-ahead for the development, saying that the buildings would not be out of character with the surrounding landscape.

Planning documents state: "There is a variety of large buildings within the estate, some of which are considerably higher than the proposed buildings. Therefore, the views from the south and east are predominantly of the existing industrial estate.

"Due to the presence of the existing industrial buildings, the site is partially obscured from view to the north. Given this landscape context, it is not considered that the site, or the proposed new building will be visually prominent in this location.

"The proposed building is to be finished in dark grey metal cladding for the roof and walls, with yellow accents and yellow timber doors, which is considered to be acceptable and consistent with the locality of the area."
