The body of a missing kayaker was found after a search by emergency services at Loch Fyne. 

Troon's RNLI lifeboat was called out to assist with the search at 9.22pm on Sunday, September 1 for the overdue kayaker.

The Troon RNLI all-weather lifeboat ‘RNLB Jim Moffat’ launched to assist Tighnabruaich RNLI inshore lifeboat, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Inverary, Kames, Crinan, Dunoon and Tarbert alongside the Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick.

Once the all-weather lifeboat arrived on scene, a search plan was established by Belfast Coastguard and throughout the night a search was undertaken.

During the course of the search, the body of the missing kayaker was located and recovered by the lifeboat crew to the all-weather lifeboat.

Belfast Coastguard were notified and the lifeboat crew remained on scene providing assistance to Coastguard and Police Scotland personnel.

The all-weather lifeboat then returned to station and was made ready for service at 4.30pm on Monday, September 2 – 19 hours after they launched.
