A very special late addition to the Saturday display lineup at this week’s International Ayr Show has been announced.
The United States Air Force (USAF) C130J Super Hercules from the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Airlift wing will appear over Ayr shorefront on Saturday, September 7.
The crew will showcase the iconic transport aircraft with 70 years’ heritage. In terms of transport aircraft, this really is “the last great American Dynasty”.
South Ayrshire Council has been working with Prestwick Airport for months to ensure this C130J and crew could join the airshow aerial display programme.
The aircraft has been especially tasked from the USAF to perform a series of special flypasts, which with its sheer size, grace and presence, will be an absolute show stopper!
During one of these flypasts, the Super Hercules will fly at slow speed, extend its flaps and open its cargo door at the rear of the aircraft.
