The Typhoon Display Team are set to be one of the star attractions at the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight.
But if you fancy a sneak peek of what to expect in the skies above Ayr next weekend, look no further.
The latest episode of The Fighter Show - Eurofighter Typhoon’s award-winning YouTube series - captures exclusive footage of the spectacle at the Royal International Air Tattoo.
Viewers are introduced to the faces of the RAF’s Typhoon Display Team (TDT) including this year’s pilot, Flight Lieutenant David ‘Turbo’ Turnbull, who is set to star in the Solo Display at the air show.
RAF Coningsby, home of the TDT, opened its doors to the Fighter Show in the build-up to the 2024 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) – giving exclusive access to 29 Squadron ahead of the world’s largest military air show.
The episode starts with Fighter Show host, Flo Taitsch, meeting Turbo at RAF Coningsby and the pair chat about life in the TDT hot seat in front of the 2024 Typhoon jet, affectionately called ‘Moggy’.
Flo then heads to RAF Fairford, where Turbo entertains the sell-out crowd of 150,000 fans.
Speaking about life as the 2024 display pilot, ‘Turbo’ said: “It’s a real privilege to be selected in the role. We’ve had so many great display pilots in the past in the UK, and overseas as well, so to be a part of that small group feels really special.”
After his time with Turbo, viewers of the episode hear from Higgy, a member of the TDT PR team, and Ben, from the TDT Engineering team. Higgy and Ben give fascinating insights into what they all need to do to make the team a success.
They talk about life in the prestigious team, reinforced by Turbo who says: “It’s not hard to stay humble and keep my feet on the ground. I’ve got the entire office and instructor pilots, close by, who’re happy to make fun of me which keeps me humble.”
Flo said: “Turbo and the RAF Typhoon Display Team are entertaining hundreds of thousands of fans across Europe this summer, and so it’s fantastic that the Fighter Show is able to give them this ‘behind-the-scenes’ access.
“It’s a brilliant episode for anyone to watch – whether they’re new to the Typhoon displays or a seasoned air show visitor. The footage we secure, as well as the interviews, makes for compelling viewing. So be sure to watch the episode and follow the TDT and the Fighter Show.”
