Ayr United Football Club and the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) are creating educational and vocational opportunities for students.
Both organisations signed a partnership agreement in July which aims to provide students with practical opportunities within the club.
This includes knowledge sharing and developing community-focused projects.
Professor James Miller, principal and vice-chancellor of UWS, said: "This partnership with Ayr United demonstrates our shared mission to be an integral part of community life in the Ayrshire region and beyond.
"By combining our academic strengths with Ayr United's industry expertise, we are creating innovative opportunities for our students to gain practical, real-world experience.
"This collaboration is not just about enhancing education; it's about making a meaningful impact on the community we serve."
David Meir, a lecturer in sport and physical education at UWS's Ayr campus, said: "By collaborating with Ayr United, we can pull our collective expertise to provide our students with invaluable learning opportunities.
"This partnership not only enhances their educational journeys through practical, hands-on experiences but also makes a meaningful contribution to the vitality and development of our local community."
The new memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlines objectives ensuring the partnership benefits students, staff, and the wider community.
A key component is providing practical opportunities for UWS students within the club.
Students will have access to placements across sports leadership, media, coaching, and project development.
They will also have the chance to observe professional coaches in practice, enhancing their understanding of high-level coaching techniques.
Ayr United staff will contribute to the academic environment at UWS by delivering guest lectures and presentations on specific modules and offering expert perspectives and industry knowledge.
The partnership also emphasises continued professional development for both UWS and Ayr United staff, with research opportunities for UWS students.
Ayr United will be supported in enhancing their strategies through data-driven insights.
By contributing to ongoing research projects, students will gain experience in applying research methodologies and generating practical solutions to real-world challenges.
The partnership is also set to benefit the local community of Ayr and surrounding areas as the collaboration encourages community engagement by promoting health, wellness, and physical activity.
Graeme Mathie, managing director of Ayr United, said: "We are excited about the many possibilities this partnership brings.
"The expertise and resources of UWS will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in advancing our club’s performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
"We look forward to seeing our players and staff benefit from this collaboration, as we work together to deliver innovative solutions and enrich the community of Ayr and its surrounding areas."
