Girvan's volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew raced to help a small vessel in difficulty off the coast on Tuesday night.
The crew were paged for launch just before 7pm to a small vessel with two people on board that had experienced some mechanical difficulty between Girvan and Turnberry.
Girvan's Shannon class all-weather Lifeboat 'Elizabeth and Gertrude Allan' left her moorings and made best speed north and was soon arriving on scene with the casualty vessel.
With the situation assessed, they placed one of their crew aboard the casualty vessel in order to establish a tow line and check on the boats occupants.
With the tow line in place and the crew member aboard the casualty vessel, the lifeboat began to tow the vessel back to Girvan.
On arrival at Girvan, the vessel was placed in the moorings on the pontoon and met by Girvan Coastguard Rescue Team. Girvan Lifeboat was then returned to its berth and made ready for its next service call.
If you see or believe someone to be on trouble at sea or along our coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
