South Ayrshire residents are being warned of a new parking scam involving fake QR codes.
South Ayrshire Council says it has been made aware of incidents of fraudsters placing stickers with QR codes on parking signs.
Once scanned, these codes take you to fraudulent websites asking you to enter card details, which can then be accessed by criminals.
In South Ayrshire, look for the PaybyPhone/ARA signage at council operated car parks and street machines.
Only use official apps to make payments or pay by cash or card where those options are available.
Please be vigilant when paying for parking and alert Ayrshire Roads Alliance on 01563 503 160, South Ayrshire Trading Standards on 0300 123 0900 or East Ayrshire Trading Standards via Advice Direct Scotland on 0808 164 600 if a QR code directs you to website which is not PaybyPhone or the Ayrshire Roads Alliance.
