A Doonfoot care home has donated more than £1,000 to two local charities to thank them for their work and support over the year.

Residents at Meallmore Group’s Greenan Manor Care Home chose to split the proceeds raised at their annual Summer Fete between Canine Concern Scotland Trust and Dementia Arts Trust.

Both charities provide much-loved services to the residents at Greenan Manor.

Pet therapy charity Canine Concern Scotland Trust are regular visitors to the home, bringing special furry friends every other day to support residents and bring joy.

Dementia Arts Trust was chosen due to the fantastic work that they do in the local community.

A fantastic £1,100 was raised by Greenan Manor through traditional summer fete activities, including a raffle, bottle roulette, face-painting and home baking stalls, as well as craft stalls selling crafts handmade by residents.

Entertainment on the day was provided by Ayrshire Ukulele Clan, who kindly donated their fee to the fund.

Greenan Manor care home manager, Elaine Hughes, said: “Opening Greenan Manor to the local community for events such as the Summer Fete provides us with an opportunity to nurture relationships with others in the area and raise funds for meaningful organisations.

“The services provided by Canine Concern Scotland Trust and Dementia Arts Trust are vital to many families in Scotland, but we chose them because both are particularly special to many of our residents.

"Both charities bring a lot of happiness to Greenan Manor throughout the year, and we’re delighted to be able to give something back to them.

"We had a wonderful day and would like to thank everyone who helped and supported with the event.”
