An Ayr man has walked free from court after he was acquitted of carrying out a bottle attack on another man in Prestwick.

Thomas Little was alleged to have repeatedly struck the other man to the head with a bottle, to his severe injury, in Main Street in Prestwick on October 30, 2021.

The 42-year-old had faced a second charge of carrying an offensive weapon, namely a bottle, in public place.

We previously reported that Mr Little had pleaded not guilty to both the charges on the Crown’s indictment.

Mr Little’s bail was continued before returning to court Ayr Sheriff Court for trial.

The words ‘to his permanent disfigurement’ were removed from the Crown’s indictment.

A jury found the charges against Mr Little, of Doon Avenue in Ayr, not proven, and he was allowed to leave the court without a stain on his character
