The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at this year's International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will feature the iconic Lancaster Bomber.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) is a fleet of World War Two aircraft preserved in flying condition as a living tribute to the service men and women that flew, maintained and built them.
They also serve to promote the modern-day Royal Air Force and to inspire future generations.
Earlier this year, the Hurricane, Spitfire and Lancaster were slated to display in the BBMF at the airshow.
However, in May, one of the pilots, Squadron Leader Mark Long, lost his life in a tragic accident while flying one of the BBMF Spitfire aircraft near the team's base at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
Whilst investigations into the crash are ongoing, the fleet's Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft remain grounded.
However, South Ayrshire Council has confirmed that the Lancaster Bomber has been granted flying status and will join the festivities at next month’s International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight.
A council spokesperson said: "As we approach the airshow, we send our thoughts to Sqn Leader Long’s family, friends and all at the BBMF."
