South Ayrshire Council has launched a campaign aimed at getting children and young people to appreciate all that school has to offer.
‘Every Learner, Every Day’ highlights the benefits of going to school, such as having fun with friends, learning about the world, and developing life skills.
Children and young people from schools across South Ayrshire have been helping to promote the campaign by appearing on posters, taking part in radio commercials, and even starring in a video.
Lauren, Alicia, Finn, and Toby were delighted to be involved in the Every Learner, Every Day campaign and talked about why they like going to school.
Lauren, who attends St Johns Primary School in Ayr, said: “School helps me develop skills that will help me when I am older.
"When I leave school, I want to be an author. Going to school will help me to get the grades I need to go to university.”
Alicia from Ayr Academy said: “I like Art as I get to show my personality. I also like English as I love to read. I would like to be a hairdresser when I leave school, getting qualifications will help me get to college so I can do hair and beauty.”
Finn, who goes to Carrick Academy, said: “Going to school means I can see my friends. I love sports, so when I leave school, I want to teach PE. Attending school will help me get the qualifications I need.”
Toby from Girvan Primary School said: “I like doing PE because it’s fun. I also love Maths. I want to be a writer when I grow up, so going to school will really help.”
Councillor William Grant, Education Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council, said: “This is a great initiative!
"The pupils were so keen to get involved and I have no doubt their enthusiasm for learning will inspire other pupils to keep moving in the right direction.
“Going to school is important to gain qualifications but there is also a wealth of vocational training on offer, providing practical experience on everything from childcare to bike maintenance.
“We launched this campaign as we don’t want anyone to miss out on opportunities which could positively shape their future.”
