This week, we're taking a look back at the best South Ayrshire stories and pics from August 2009.
Who can you spot in these photos from 15 years ago?
Campaigners forced the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency into revealing that the River Doon will not have its flow affected...yet. In August 2009, they confirmed they had not received the relevant application that would affect the water that is released from the Loch Doon dam into the river. A pressure group, pictured above, had been formed to protest the Scottish Power proposal.
Ashley Landsburgh and Natalie Brown, both from Ayr, held a Pink Ladies Night in Pro-Soccer at Whitletts Road in 2009 and raised an incredible £760 for Cancer Research UK.
Multi-talented sportsman Scott Johnston made history by becoming the youngster ever winner of a Prestwick golf title. The 16-year-old Ayr youngster, who plays for the Ayr United Football, won the club championship at Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club in August 2009.
Despite some tough competition Tom McFarlane won the prize for best kept Craigie allotment 2009. He is pictured with runners-up Mr and Mrs Blake, best newcomer John McBride, and Andy McClung, chairman of Ayr North Community Council.
Enthusiastic pilgrims learned about growth of the Christian church on a tour of historic church sites in North Carrick in 2009, led by Fr Stephen McGrattan of Our Lady and St Cuthbert’s, Maybole. The group was guided by James Brown FSA Scot who spoke with extensive knowledge on the architecture and ruins of the church building.
Sixth-year pupils went back to school early at Belmont Academy in summer 2009 to take part in specialised leadership training. Looks like they had a lot of fun too.
