Plans to revamp a busy Troon petrol station have been given the green light.

The owners of the Morrisons facility on Dukes Road had lodged a planning application to expand and increase its offering to customers.

The site's owners Motor Fuel Group (MFG) asked for permission from South Ayrshire Council to demolish the existing car wash, extend the existing sales building and create an electric vehicle charging zone.

They were also looking to install new jet wash bays and a canopy, as well as construct a sub-station with LV panel, meter cabinet, plant room and associated works.

The planning application has now been granted by South Ayrshire Council planning officers with no specific conditions.

Planning decision documents state: "The application proposals involve the installation of new EV charging points within the curtilage of the existing supermarket aligns with the national policy and addresses the growing demand for EV infrastructure across Scotland.

"This aspect of the proposals would enhance the existing EV charging network, benefiting users of the surrounding strategic highway network.

"The proposed development will improve the site's current offerings without hindering its efficient operation.

"The proposals also involve the erection of a canopy, sub station enclosure, LV panel, meter cabinet, an extension to the existing filling station, a new bin store and the formation of 4 x jet wash bays.

"These aspects of the application proposals do not present any concerns regarding adverse impacts on amenity or conflicts with surrounding land uses.

"The proposals represent alterations and an extension to an existing petrol filling station and the nature of the works are not considered to detract from the character or amenity of the surrounding area."
