A complex operation to move a 40-tonne aircraft with no wheels at Prestwick Airport has been completed.

Earlier this week, Airfield Operations and the Airport Fire Service worked with Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance Ltd and Cadzow Heavy Haulage Ltd to relocated a disused B737 airframe from Apron Charlie to the PAM hangar.

The challenging task required careful planning and co-ordination, and the preparation for the move took several days to plan.

The team ensured all safety protocols were observed, taking into account the active runway and the significant weight of the aircraft.

Specialised equipment and experienced personnel were essential in executing the relocation without incident.

The airframe will now be used to train aircraft engineering apprentices, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience.

An airport spokesperson said: "Thank you to everyone involved in this complex operation and ensuring a safe and successful relocation."
