A South Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: "Young people should be very proud of all their efforts and achievements.

"A tremendous amount of work takes place throughout the year to get to this point and teachers, parents, carers and all school staff play a key role in supporting our young people.

"Across South Ayrshire, schools are helping children and young people reach their full potential and we recognise that SQA results are not the only opportunities for young people to attain and achieve.

"South Ayrshire schools and partners offer many qualifications that support young people to gain the knowledge and skills needed to progress into a wide range of future learning and career pathways."
