This week, we take a look back at some of the summer fun across South Ayrshire in August 2004.

Cheryl Armstrong, 13, got in the spirit by dooking for apples during Claremont Care Home’s summer fete in August 2004. A real family day out featuring beat the goalie and crazy golf, the event raised £1,000 for the resident’s social fund.
The 15th annual Dundonald games took place on Saturday, August 7, 2004, amid sunshine and laughter. Pictured are Gala Queen Nicole Smith, 11, centre, with her attendants, Nicole Cook, 11, left and Morag Wilson, 12.
Actress Gwyneth Guthrie came along to support the PDSA’s stand at the 2004 Ayr Flower Show and met with area fundraising manager, Lynn Crawford.
Ayr played host to the 2004 World Bowls championship, which began with around 280 players and officials enjoying a civic reception in the Town Hall. Provost Gordon McKenzie presented chairman of the World Bowls Organisation John Armstrong with an engraved glass bowl.
Ayr Equestrian Centre Pony Camp members Diane Flynn and Alison Robb landed the dirty job of mucking out the stables in August 2004. They were among many youngsters who learned about stable management during the summer holidays.
Glorious sunshine made the 2004 Dunure Harbour Gala a day to remember. Debbie Anderson, Arlane GIbson and Michelle McDowall were on hand to serve up the cuppas.
