Ayr has been named the worst seaside town in Scotland by consumer giant Which?
The South Ayrshire destination placed at the bottom of the list of best and worst destinations on the coast in a survey by the website.
Ayr was given a destination score of 57 per cent based on five factors, compared to other towns, including Largs, who scored higher.
St Andrews was named as the best seaside town in Scotland, with a destination score of 82 per cent.
Ayr was handed a one star rating for its shopping, which comes as a surprise given the wide variety of independent shops on the high street, alongside high end chains in the Ayr Central shopping centre.
It was handed two out of five for its seafront area, despite a range of stunning views across the Firth of Clyde and towards Ailsa Craig.
Ayr's best feature according to the survey was its beaches, with a score of three out of five for that category.
Ayr Beach has won a range of top awards over the years, and is popular with locals and visitors of all ages.
In the final category, Ayr was given two out of five for its food and drink, despite a wide variety of top quality award-winning restaurants, cafes and takeaways.
