A volunteer crewmember at Girvan RNLI has put in the hard yards to qualify as a lifeboat navigator.
Duncan Mackintosh has been with the team at Girvan lifeboat station for three-and-a-half years, during that time utilising the excellent training systems in place within the RNLI.
From joining with no prior knowledge, Duncan went from trainee crew to a substantive fully competent crew.
After many more months of training and learning, including a rigorous written and oral examination and an operational assessment exercise, Duncan was passed out as a fully competent all-weather lifeboat navigator.
A spokesperson said: "This is a huge achievement and one step closer on his training pathway eventually to coxswain status.
"We send our congratulations to Duncan for all his efforts, commitment and hard work from everyone at Girvan lifeboat station."
