Dundonald Highland Games were a great success in August 2009. Gala Queen Katie Higginson, centre, is pictured with her attendants, Sophie Parker and Gemma Wylie.
Residents from across South Ayrshire joined South Carrick Club Diamonds for a fun-filled day in summer 2009. The club organised the Dailly event to promote Falls National Awareness Day. As well as learning about the dangers associated with falls, people were treated to entertainment from Dailly Primary pupils.
Scottish actor John Cairney was in Maybole in summer 2009 to open an exhibition of his artwork at the Cockburn Gallery in High Street. John was well known in Ayrshire for his performances as Robert Burns on stage and TV.
South Ayrshire was well represented at the 2009 Army Cadet Force Annual Camp, at Beckingham in Lincolnshire. Gary Mitchell received a certificate from Padre Macdonald for the ‘Most Improved Cadet.

Volunteers at Troon’s Oxfam shop raised a fantastic £500 in just two weeks to help communities in the developing world in August 2009. The cash was collected by hosting a coffee morning, designing badges and selling home baking in the town’s two Oxfam shops.
