The former Carrick General Stories in Maybole has been transformed and is now back on the market after lying empty for 15 years.

And the old building, which had rotten floorboards and a collapsed roof, has had an amazing refurbishment.

As revealed last year, the dilapidated store was put back up for auction, with a starting price of just £2,000.

The successful bidders for the property at 43 Cassillis Road, Maybole, were GJ Evans Ltd, who have now completed their incredible renovation of the old store.

Inside, the building looked like a wreck. But director Garry Evans, who first attended the property after the auction, was not fazed.

He said: "I remember walking through the front door for the first time and each step crashing through the rotten floorboards to the ground below.

"The roof to the courtyard had collapsed and it was only when we began the renovation works that a kitchen and toilet were discovered - a pleasant surprise.

"We would like to really thank Ally of Browns Property and Garden Maintenance in Ayr for the excellent works carried out.

"A full rewire, new floor joists and floorboards, new doors windows, walls, kitchen and toilet and a nice touch with the courtyard.
