Plans to site 12 storage containers on vacant land near Ayr's Whitletts Roundabout have been approved.
An application was lodged earlier this year to site the containers and an ancillary office building on vacant industrial land located to the north of Wheatpark Road.
The site covers an area of approximately 203sqm and is broadly triangular in shape, and would be accessed via an existing access along the south eastern boundary of the site.
A supporting statement says that the facility would be open between 7am and 7pm each day, with no permanent staff employed at the facility.
The gate will be a timed automatic entry and locking arrangement with a keypad entry for storage lessees to visit their unit when required.
The purpose of the office is for management to meet lessees and sign contracts, and to store paperwork, cleaning and security equipment.
The 12 containers will be sited in a row adjacent to the western boundary of the site, and the proposed office will be sited adjacent to the vehicular access to the site.
Each storage container shall be approximately 2.6 metres in height with a footprint of approximately 14 sqm.
A condition has been attached to the permission that restricts the use of the site to a limited period of a maximum of ten years.
