An Ayr man has been acquitted of claims of sexually assaulting a woman while she slept.
Ronald Chambers, 39, whose address is listed as being in Ayr, appeared at the town’s sheriff court to face trial for the charge, which dates back to August 2021.
He was also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at a house in the town in August 2022, by entering a bedroom - uninvited - where a couple were having sex.
It was claimed he swore at them, threw items, and spat at a woman.
It was further alleged that he headbutted a mirror, however the Crown dropped this second charge ahead of his trial at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Mr Chambers denied all the allegations and his bail was continued throughout the proceedings.
The jury returned a not proven verdict to the allegation of sexual assault.
He was then allowed to leave the dock.
All accused persons reported in the Ayr Advertiser are considered innocent unless later found, or admit to being, guilty.
