A DOON Valley man has appeared in court charged with carrying out a knife attack in Maybole – and with smashing a vase over another man’s head.
David Deans denied all the charges against him during a brief hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.
The 40-year-old is alleged to have repeatedly struck the second man on the head with a ‘vase or similar object’ at McDowall Terrace in Maybole on February 27, 2023.
The charge claims that Mr Deans, of Bank View in Patna, then struck the other man on the body with a knife to his ‘severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment’.
He faces a second charge of failing to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on April 24 this year.
Mr Deans, who was represented by solicitor John Gallagher, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Bail was continued and he will return to court to face the charges at a later date.
All accused persons reported in the Ayr Advertiser are considered innocent unless or until they are later found, or admit to being, guilty.
